Vanlife Customs builds premium adventure vans with particular focus on Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platforms. Our vehicles combine suspension upgrades, electrical systems, and expedition equipment to create capable overland vehicles used across North America.
We are seeking an Adventure Vehicle Technician to join our team. This position is focused on automotive systems - Upgrades, suspension installation, and aftermarket vehicle equipment.
This position tends to appeal to technicians from dealership, performance, 4x4, or specialty vehicle shops who want to work on interesting builds rather than routine service work.
Suspension and Chassis Systems
Install suspension upgrades including lift kits, shocks, springs, sway bars, steering components, and chassis upgrades. Follow torque specifications and manufacturer installation procedures to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Automotive Diagnostics
Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platforms. Use scan tools, wiring diagrams, and standard diagnostic procedures to identify faults and verify repairs.
Overland and Vehicle Accessory Installation
Install aftermarket equipment including roof racks, ladders, bumpers, winches, lighting systems, compressors, and recovery gear.
Vehicle Electrical Systems
Install auxiliary electrical systems such as lithium battery systems, inverters, solar charging equipment, heaters, and vehicle power distribution components while maintaining correct integration with factory vehicle systems.
Vehicle Integration and Testing
Ensure all installed systems function correctly with OEM vehicle electronics and safety systems. Perform system testing and resolve issues before vehicle delivery.
Quality and Workmanship
Maintain professional installation standards, clean wiring and mounting practices, and accurate documentation of work performed.
Required Experience
3+ years experience as an automotive technician, performance technician, or specialty vehicle installer
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
Experience installing suspension components or chassis upgrades
Familiarity with automotive electrical systems
Ability to use diagnostic scan tools and interpret vehicle fault codes
Ability to follow wiring diagrams and technical documentation
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Experience
Experience working on Ford Transit or Mercedes Sprinter platforms
Background in 4x4, overland, or off-road vehicle builds
ASE certification or equivalent automotive training
Experience installing winches, bumpers, lighting systems, and roof racks
Familiarity with auxiliary 12V or lithium electrical systems
