About Vanlife Customs

Vanlife Customs was founded ten years ago in a backyard in Boulder and has grown into a 15,000-square-foot facility with a team of 15 dedicated professionals. We design and build bespoke vehicles that elevate how people travel, work, and explore.

Our mission is straightforward but demanding: transform standard vehicles into the nation’s best custom mobile bases—for both adventure and business. Through expert craftsmanship, honest guidance, and thoughtful engineering, we create vans designed to go anywhere and perform everywhere.

We specialize in highly customized campervan builds, upgrades, and remodels. We’ve built over 400 vans and serviced or upgraded thousands more. Our culture values curiosity, collaboration, and turning complex technical work into beautiful, functional outcomes.

Why This Role Is Special

This role sits at the intersection of storytelling, real products, and real revenue.

You won’t be marketing abstract software or lifestyle hype. You’ll be inside an active fabrication shop, capturing real craft, real problem-solving, and real delivery moments—and helping convert that work into qualified leads, active opportunities, and booked revenue.

This is an ideal role for someone early in their career but serious about growth: someone who wants responsibility, mentorship, and a clear path to becoming a highly capable marketing generalist with strong commercial instincts.

About the Role

We are looking for a creative and analytical Marketing & Sales Specialist who helps tell the story of Vanlife Customs and actively converts that story into meaningful customer engagement and sales outcomes.

This is not a passive content or brand-only role. You will participate directly in the top and middle of the sales funnel—turning inbound interest into real conversations, supporting early qualification, and helping move prospects toward booked work.

As our first full-time hire focused on content, growth, and sales support, you will take ownership of day-to-day execution previously handled by the owner and external partners. You will work closely with leadership to ensure marketing activity is measured in pipeline quality, conversion, and revenue impact—not just awareness.

You will not be expected to close complex six-figure custom builds on day one. You will be expected to understand our sales process, engage with real prospects, and contribute materially to moving opportunities forward.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role is defined by real commercial outcomes.

Over time, you will be expected to:
• Generate qualified inbound leads through content and campaigns
• Respond to, triage, and nurture inbound inquiries
• Support early-stage sales conversations and qualification
• Convert interest into scheduled calls, design consults, and deposits
• Improve lead quality, conversion rates, and sales efficiency
• Clearly understand which marketing activities result in booked work

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Storytelling

• Plan, shoot, and edit video and photography of builds, shop processes, and finished vehicles
• Produce content that addresses real buyer questions, objections, and decision points
• Interview technicians and designers to translate technical details into customer-friendly stories
• Create content specifically designed to support active sales opportunities
• Organize and maintain a searchable content library used by marketing and sales

Digital Marketing & Lead Generation

• Manage and optimize Google and Meta ad campaigns with a focus on lead quality
• Assist in developing landing pages and CTAs that convert interest into inquiries
• Support email marketing campaigns, including newsletters and lead-nurture sequences
• Review performance data tied to leads, opportunities, and booked revenue
• Identify which campaigns and messages produce sales-qualified leads

Sales Engagement & Pipeline Support

• Actively manage first-touch responses to inbound leads (email, forms, social messages)
• Qualify inbound inquiries against basic criteria such as budget, timing, and intent
• Schedule discovery calls or consultations with the appropriate team member
• Maintain accurate lead and opportunity tracking in the CRM
• Support follow-ups with warm leads using content and materials you help create
• Assist in preparing proposals, one-pagers, and visual assets for active opportunities
• Participate in internal reviews of pipeline health and conversion performance

Social Media & Community

• Manage day-to-day publishing across social platforms
• Engage professionally with inbound messages and route real opportunities into the sales process
• Align social content with current promotions, campaigns, and sales priorities

What You’ll Learn Here

• How high-consideration, high-value products are marketed and sold
• How content directly influences lead quality and revenue
• How to communicate technical products to non-technical buyers
• How a premium brand is built, protected, and grown
• How sales, marketing, and operations align in a real production business

Experience & Skills

We are open to early-career candidates, including exceptional recent graduates, who can demonstrate strong real-world work.

Rather than focusing on years of experience, we care about evidence of capability, curiosity, and ownership.

You should bring:
• Demonstrated experience creating content or marketing materials used in real-world settings
• Strong interest in visual storytelling, with hands-on photography and/or video experience
• Working knowledge of common editing tools
• Clear, confident writing skills for captions, emails, and website copy
• Comfort engaging with customers or prospects in a professional setting
• Willingness to participate in sales conversations and learn how deals progress
• Ability to manage projects, prioritize work, and follow through
• Collaborative mindset and comfort working with builders, designers, and leadership

Sales experience is not required, but avoidance of commercial responsibility is not a fit.

What We’ll Ask You to Show Us

During the application or interview process, we’ll ask you to share examples such as:
• A portfolio or folder with video, photography, or design work
• Social media accounts or campaigns you’ve managed or contributed to
• Examples of written content (emails, captions, website copy)
• A short explanation of a project you’re proud of and what you learned

Professional, freelance, internship, or personal projects are all welcome.

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience supporting paid advertising (Google, Meta)
• Familiarity with email marketing platforms (HubSpot, Campaign Monitor, etc.)
• Basic website editing experience (Squarespace or similar)
• Interest in outdoor, travel, automotive, or maker communities
• Experience in a hands-on, product-driven environment
