About the Role
We are looking for a passionate, full-time Custom Vehicle Sales Consultant to join our team and drive growth in our custom build business. You will be the primary sales professional responsible for guiding customers through their van build journey - from initial consultation through contract signing - while building lasting relationships that reflect our commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and customer service.

You'll help them envision their perfect mobile base while ensuring every detail serves their unique lifestyle and business needs.
This role combines consultative selling with technical knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for the van life movement. You'll work closely with our design and engineering teams to create compelling proposals that balance customer desires with practical execution, always keeping their adventures and aspirations at the center of every conversation.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Manage the complete sales cycle for custom van builds from lead qualification through contract signing, treating each customer's vision as a unique adventure
- Conduct passionate build conversations to deeply understand customer dreams, lifestyle needs, use cases, and budget parameters
- Lead inspiring facility tours and van showcases that bring our craftsmanship to life and help customers envision their perfect mobile basecamp
- Present compelling design concepts and project proposals that capture customer vision while showcasing our expertise and attention to detail
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with transparency and integrity while maintaining healthy profit margins
- Maintain accurate sales pipeline data and forecasting in our CRM system to ensure we're always ready to serve our customers
- Generate and pursue qualified leads through networking, referrals, and events with genuine enthusiasm for what we create
Customer Experience & Consultation
- Serve as the primary relationship manager and trusted advisor for prospective customers during their entire sales journey
- Educate customers with genuine enthusiasm about van platform options, design possibilities, and technical considerations that will enhance their adventures
- Collaborate closely with our design team to develop visually compelling presentations and proposals that capture the excitement of their future travels
- Address customer concerns and objections with patience and expertise while maintaining trust, transparency, and excitement about their project
- Ensure smooth handoff to our project management team after contract signing, maintaining the momentum and passion established during the sales process
- Follow up with completed customers to celebrate their adventures and generate referrals from their positive experiences
Market Development & Strategy
- Identify and pursue strategic commercial opportunities with passion and purpose, including industry-specific applications that align with our values
- Develop meaningful relationships with complementary businesses for referral partnerships built on shared passion for quality
- Represent Vanlife Customs with pride and professionalism at trade shows, events, and industry gatherings as an authentic ambassador for our brand
- Provide valuable market feedback to leadership on customer trends, competitive landscape, and pricing based on genuine market engagement
- Participate enthusiastically in marketing initiatives including content creation, customer testimonials, and storytelling that showcases the adventures we enable
Sales Operations & Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, preferences, and decision-making timelines
- Track key sales metrics including conversion rates, average project values, and sales cycle length
- Prepare regular sales reports and pipeline analysis for management
- Collaborate with estimating team to ensure accurate project pricing and timelines
- Continuously improve sales processes and customer experience based on feedback and results
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of consultative sales experience, preferably in custom manufacturing, construction, or high-value consumer goods where relationship and trust are paramount
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in complex, relationship-driven sales environments with genuine enthusiasm for customer success
- Exceptional communication skills - both verbal and written - with natural ability to explain technical concepts with passion and clarity to diverse audiences
- Strong relationship-building abilities with customers, team members, and industry partners rooted in authentic interest in their success and adventures
- Experience managing long sales cycles (60-180 days) with patience, persistence, and maintained enthusiasm throughout multiple stakeholder interactions
- Technology expertise including CRM systems, Google Workspace software, and project management tools to support seamless customer experiences
- Self-motivated and organized with strong time management and prioritization skills driven by genuine commitment to customer success
- Professional appearance and demeanor that reflects our premium brand positioning while maintaining approachable, authentic passion for what we create
- Genuine enthusiasm for the van life movement, outdoor recreation, or adventure travel - you should be excited about the lifestyle and freedom our products enable
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally for events and customer meetings
Preferred Qualifications
- Personal experience with van life, overlanding, outdoor recreation, or adventure travel - we value authentic passion for the lifestyle our customers are pursuing
- Experience in the automotive, or outdoor recreation industries with deep appreciation for quality craftsmanship
- Knowledge of van platforms, systems integration, or custom vehicle modifications gained through personal interest or professional experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field
- Experience with commercial/B2B sales in addition to consumer sales, particularly in mission-driven or values-aligned organizations
- Understanding of design and construction processes with appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into every build
- Track record of building long-term customer relationships that extend beyond the initial sale into lasting partnerships

Work Environment & Expectations
Location: Primarily On-site at Vanlife Customs facility in Arvada, COSchedule: Full-time, standard business hours with flexibility for events and customer meetings
Work setting: Combination of office, off-site and shop floor environment
Travel: Occasional travel for trade shows, events, and customer meetings (10-15%)
